I was preparing my MacBook Pro for the installation of Snow Leopard, and decided to share this with you guys what tasks I’m doing. I am archiving old files to an external hard drive. I then used Time Machine to backup my HD. Here’s my tutorial www.youtube.com If you want you can clone your Hard drive. This is my favorite way to backup because of convenience, and the fact that you can swap your hard drive. Here’s my tutorial on Winclone www.youtube.com Here’s the link to the program …

darn it!
I have almost 700Gb of data to back up!
I think I’m going to upgrade my OS later on, so.
I didn’t have an external hard drive right now.

were you in a hospital?
February 18, 2006
please do man. Smart move though on waiting. I generally dont recommend upgrading an OS until its after a .3 (10.5.3 or 10.6.3)
February 18, 2006
interesting, i didn’t think about that before. I upgraded.
Im not planning on installing SL until an update is released, when that happens though i will try clean installing it, ill let you know how it works out.

hey no problem. I actually dont blame you going back to regular leopard. SL is quite glitchy in numerous areas. Just curious, did you do a clean install or just upgrade? Reason why I asked is because when I did the regular upgrade install, snow leopard was a huge headache. I was pissed. So I went back to regular leopard. Relieved cuz everything was normal. Then I did a clean install of Snow Leopard, and its a huge difference. Less problems with a clean install!

Thanks mate, worked successfully.
However after several hours of using snow leopard i went back to 10.5.8, however your tutorials are still very helpful.

it all depends on when you last backed up.. but whenever you last backed up with time machine, you can get that day! In fact i got stuff off of time machine from 2 days before i installed snow leopard
February 18, 2006
so if you delete something and it is backed up on time machine can you always get it back or is there a time when you can’t go back and get it?
February 18, 2006
i do recommend partitioning it though. I will be doing a tutorial on this.
February 18, 2006

Does anybody know that for 10.4 users the disc can be an upgrade or must be clean install? I already heard the news the 29$ disc can and will put SL on a 10.4 imac, but I want to know if I really have to erase the HD and start all over for SL.
February 18, 2006
